While completing her degree in Communication Arts at the University of South Alabama, Myrna began her career in broadcasting in 1985 as a news intern at WKSJ radio. She later joined the urban contemporary radio station in that city as an announcer/reporter. The transition to television news occurred a year later when Myrna was hired as the weekend producer/reporter for the CBS affiliate, WKRG.

Her next move was to Durham, North Carolina, where Myrna worked as a general assignment reporter for WGHP in High Point, North Carolina. She was promoted to Manager of Community Involvement and received the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award for Literacy.

Following another move, this time to Atlanta, Georgia, Myrna began working at TBS as a freelance producer. She joined the Public Affairs department in 1994 working in several positions including, associate producer and co-producer of TBS' magazine show,

In her current role, Director of Community Affairs, Myrna has expanded her community outreach on behalf of TBS to increase the station's impact in Atlanta. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Adopt-A-Grandparent Program. This is an organization that serves seniors in Metro-Atlanta by pairing them with younger adults for mutual companionship and support. Myrna also serves on the board of SOLID Foundations, Inc., a non-profit supporting other non-profits with leadership training. Through TBS projects like Pathfinders, Great American Moments and GoldStar Students, Myrna interacts with hundreds of non-profit organizations and community volunteers.

Myrna is a 2000-2001 fellow of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, sponsored by Women In Cable & Telecommunications. She is a ten-time Emmy winner and two-time recipient of the Atlanta Association of Black Journalist award for Community/Public Affairs Reporting in Television. Other awards include the 1998 Media Access Award, the 1999 Prized Pieces Film & Video Festival Awards and the Easter Seals EDI Award.

As host for TBS STORYline, Myrna continues yet another chapter in her distinguished broadcasting career.
